About us

Bow Creek Moorings is being established by a small not-for-profit cooperative of boaters who want to provide safe, secure and affordable moorings. We want to breathe new life into Bow Creek, helping to revitalise the river and surrounding area, recognising its history as a once thriving river and helping it into its new important role of providing access to blue and green spaces for the rapidly growing wider community.

We aim to create a mooring with up to ten boats of mixed sizes. Each boat will have a share in the ownership, management and responsibility for running the site. We want to make this a small sustainable community for future generations.

We will make the moorings as environmentally friendly as possible: solar panels on most of the boats will reduce our dependence on the grid. The materials we use to build the moorings will be sourced from sustainable sources wherever possible.

We will seek help from outside agencies to encourage wildlife in and around the marina and have a robust plan for planting and landscaping the quay and surrounding area to make it safe and accessible for all.

The Bow Back rivers are difficult to navigate on the tidal section not many boaters venture up the creek, and there are few if any places to moor. Careful planning and an awareness of the tides is essential. We hope to provide a space for overnight mooring for visitors to the creek making the navigation easier and opening up the back rivers to a wider community of boaters .
